Good BBQ, Friendly People, Family Owned & Operated. Actually My Grandfather built & started this BBQ Place in 1970 then My Dad & Mom ran it as A BBQ & Pool Hall then it has been sold a few x’s since but known this place & Each of the few owners it has had since I hve been going there all my life.. Love the Owners they hve owned it for yrs now & it stays busy

Not to many restaurants left out there that seems to have a family feel, but, Hemphill BBQ does....The BBQ Ribs were outstanding...After looking at my empty plate of rib bones, Kenny asked me if I had enough, and I joking replied “no”. He replied “ I’ll give you more ribs, but you have to eat them here, no take home. I almost took him up on it, but got a piece of their homemade coconut cream pie...if you haven’t tried one of those, your missing out...The pie is awesome ! Great place near Toledo Bend...

When by Thurs The 12th after fishing and walked in at 7:20 pm. The old man told us that if we wanted anything we would have to take it with us. We mention Lanes and he that would be a great idea. That is the rudest and most obnoxious business in Sabine County. There were 4 of us walked out. I will never darken their door again

If, like me, you're looking for hidden gems of Texas barbeque, go ahead and pass this one by. Although the food was adequate, it certainly wasn't special. The owner bragged about his ribs, but I didn't find them memorable. The chicken was ok, but tasted like a refrigerator, sauce was ok, but watery and had blobs of cornstarch in it, and the beans were undercooked. I think place had a good base, but got lost in its attention to the details. Atmosphere is country, and quaint, and family, but lacks warmth. When I walked in I didn't feel welcomed, more like I was invading someone's clubhouse. Ok for a local barbeque house, but falls far short of making the Best of Texas list.

We each tried something different. I got the three meat dinner. Brisket, sausage and pork along with 2 sides potato salad and coleslaw. Was more food than I could est at one time. So I took the rest home and enjoyed a good BBQ lunch the next day.

Hemphill BBQ is a hidden gem of exquisite BBQ and southern charm. Their sauce is a recipe that's been handed down through 3 generations and is absolutely delectable. I thouroughly enjoyed my time here and would encourage any and all to go out of your way to experience this slice of southern hospitality and cuisine.
